Butlins, Fun & Dancing (Minehead ) with Darren & Netty

Butlins, Fun & Dancing
The fun of the fair was always a popular choice and we were soon flying high up in the sky on the Swing Chairs, bumping and crashing into each other on the Dodgem Cars and spinning round and round on the Waltzer.

We won some fantastic prizes on the traditional fairground stalls like Hook A Duck and Hit a Target.

We managed to find our way out of  the mirrored maze and into the hall of illusions where we became the magicians assistant!

The entertainment at Butlins was incredible. Every night we were treated to fantastic, live music. The Jersey Boys dazzled us with their fantastic singing, fabulous dance routines and amazing sparkly outfits. We put on our dancing shoes and boogied on down to the iconic pop legends, ABBA. We were always the last ones to leave the dance floor!

The RedCoats always made us feel so welcome. We loved saying hello to them and showing off our disco moves on the dance floor.

A friendly Ladies vs Men competition commenced at the bowling alley. After a tense game the men were crowned champions. Like the good sports people they are, the ladies gave them a huge round of applause.

We took our seats for the traditional fairy tale classic, Sleeping Beauty. This fantastic performance provided us with lots of laughs and we loved joining in with the booing and hissing at the evil Maleficent.

Whenever we could, we stopped to take photos with all the lovable characters and Butlins memorabilia.

We spent the day exploring the village of Lynmouth and its very own museum. It is a charming museum with collections of agricultural and domestic tools, maritime and railway history and unique paintings of the Lynmouth flood dating back to 1052. We then made our way to the cliff railway, which was a fantastic experience. This is one of the highest and steepest water powered railways in the world, giving us the most unspoiled and breath taking views across the valley.

We popped into the classic toy museum which houses a great display of toys, games and action figures ranging from the 1960's to 1980's. It was great to see some of our childhood favourites.
