French Countryside & Coast with Adrian & Wendy

After our ferry crossing over the channel it was a short drive before we arrived at our fantastic gite. We had some challenging weather to contend with all week, but made the most of it and we all enjoyed ourselves.

We visited a chocolate factory where we saw chocolates being made and of course had to have a taste! We went bowling, with Geoff coming out victorious with an impressive score.

We drove to Boulogne and spent a day looking around the Nausicaa sea life centre, one of the biggest in Europe. Not only could we see the many fish on display, but we also had the opportunity to dip our hands in the water and feel some too. We visited the ‘old town’ of Boulogne and had dinner before we returned home.

We took a trip to Montrieul where we perused the shops and visited the Cathedral, stopping off for a drink outdoors at a cafe. We took the steam train from Le Crotoy to St Valery, passing some beautiful countryside on our journey.

We went to Le Touquet for market day, where we saw the many fresh foods on offer, and got to taste some of the locally produced cheeses. At Naours we headed underground to see the large subterranean city, which was fascinating. We visited Hardelot Chateaux, an impressive building, where we toured the grounds.

We ate well all week, enjoying local French cuisine whenever possible. At our accommodation we enjoyed playing pool and table-football, organising a few friendly competitions just for fun. In the evenings we all sang along to the Jukebox!
