Alton Towers Theme Park with Roger & Netty

 Alton Towers Theme Park

In Alton Towers we experience the thrills of speed. We had such an amazing time on all the rides from the Runaway Mine Train, Spinball Whizzer, Oblivion, Rita and much much more!

During the week we enjoyed different fun activities such as Tenpin bowling, table tennis, air hockey and also loved playing racing games on the amusements.

We took the cable car to the top of the Heights of Abraham. Once there we saw stunning views of the Derwent Valley and surrounding Peak District. We also enjoyed visiting the Victoria Prospect Tower, the Masson Cavern and the Tinker's Shaft.

We took a beautiful stream train journey through the Derbyshire countryside. At the last stop we had a delicious lunch in the quaint station restaurant.

We also visited the town of Bakewell which is very famous for puddings. In the 19th century a cook at the Rutland Arms was baking a jam tart but misunderstood the recipe and so Bakewell Pudding was created.

We had a fantastic time at the Chatsworth House and gardens. We explored many of the magnificent rooms in this historical mansion and wandered through the beautiful gardens.

We  had a truly amazing holiday full of fun and laugher!

New Forest & Hampshire County Show with John & Candy

New Forest & Hampshire County Show

Our time spent at the county show was packed full of fun! We watched various shows from show jumping to livestock exhibitions and much more. We also visited the animal pens to get a closer look at the many different breeds.

At the flower marquee we saw amazing displays of giant home grown vegetables and many different varieties of flowers.

We had a great time and really enjoyed looking at the sheep, cows, birds and many more.

During our stay we took part in different activities which included a tournament of pool and a game of crazy golf. We also decorated our very own flower pot which certainly demonstrated some artistic work.

At the Beaulieu museum we all loved seeing so many different vehicles, old and new, and had fun travelling on the monorail and the old fashioned bus. It was great to see Mr Beans and Del Boy’s car along with the classic cars and motorbikes.

We took a coastal drive and visited Lepe. It was a beautiful day so we took a short walk on the beach where we enjoyed a paddle and had great fun skimming stones into the water.

Our evenings were packed full of entertainment  and of course we boogied along!

Steam Railways in Yorkshire with Steve & Michaela

Steam Railways in Yorkshire

During our holiday we had fantastic adventures where we discovered Yorkshire through scenic railway journeys. We were thrilled to ride different trains on each journey. The Scarborough Spa Express was definitely our favourite.

On a beautiful sunny day we went to Allerton Park for the Great Yorkshire Steam Fair. We spent the day admiring the traction engines,  vintage cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors.

In Ripon market square we watched the fabulous Morris dancers. They are well known to wear fresh flowers around their hats.

We visited the largest national railway museum in the world. It was so fascinating walking around the hundreds of train exhibits and getting up close to some of the largest engines ever built.

After a train journey to York City Centre we wandered around the historical walled city and the iconic York Minster.
It is one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe.

We also enjoyed wandering down the pretty cobbled streets in York where we bought gifts and souvenirs to take home.

As the weather was so good we decided to travel on the top deck of a vintage bus. It was a great way to see the wonderful scenery around the moors and the valleys.
