Norfolk Broads with Adrian & Jen

We had a great time on the Broads, enjoying the lovely weather. With a hearty home-cooked breakfast each morning and pub lunches and dinners we ate well all week. We were even treated to a BBQ on our last day before we left.

We ventured out on the water on various craft. First we tested our paddling skills as we went out on the broads in our stabilised canoes. We also tried our hand at sailing. We each took turns at the rudder, steering the boat in the right direction. We all got a chance to pull the sail ropes and managed to pick up quite a bit of speed across the Broad.

One day we took a steam train ride from Holt to Sheringham. We always enjoy the thrill of a ride on the steam trains with the lovely sounds of the whistle and the smoke billowing from the funnel. We visited the coast, and some even ventured onto the shore.

Feeling lucky, one evening we went to the greyhound races at Great Yarmouth. We all had a bet and loudly cheered on our chosen dogs. Most of us won on at least one race!

On the Broads again we got the binoculars out to get some close up views of swans, mallard, geese, great crested grebe and coots. Everyone had a go at steering the cruiser, trying to avoid the swans on the water! We even stopped off to do some fishing.

We had all had a fantastic week, with new experiences for many of us.
