Our farm and zoo holiday was soft, cuddly and adorable! We were given a great guided tour of the farm and we were introduced to a Jersey cow called Toffee. Everyone gave her a stroke and some food, whilst farmer Kylie explained what it is like being a dairy farmer. He then showed us how to milk a cow and we all plucked up the courage to have a go! We all had such a lovely time feeding and holding the incredibly cute baby lambs at the farm. They just loved suckling on the milk bottles we were giving them. We also fed lamas, ponies and sheep.
We had a cracking day at Colchester Zoo and we were all so excited to see the animals. We saw lots of different species of monkey and we had a chance to feed the majestic giraffes. They had long rubbery tongues and were very affectionate! We also fed the beautiful elephants. There was an interactive section where a lady showed us how to hold a big, ugly cockroach and we caught a train to visit the lemurs. They came right up to us and were very curious!
On another day we went to a nearby train museum. It was like walking into the past as we saw old ticket houses and had a walk inside some ancient locomotives and enjoyed a comfy seat in first class! That was followed by a super game of ten pin bowling with everyone getting into the competitive spirit!
We ended our holiday with a blast by stopping off at Tropical Wings, which turned out to be one of the highlights of the holiday. It was just like a tropical zoo and there were so many species of birds, including Macaws, Cassowaries and even funny talking parrots! We squeezed through large palms and ferns to se lots of colourful big fish swimming in a large pond. We also saw hundreds of butterflies with all their enchanting patterns. It was the perfect way to end our holiday.
