Canal Boat Leisure Trips We couldn't have asked for better weather for our 3 days spent on the beautiful canals. After an induction we soon climbed aboard, moored off, and began our adventure. The journey was tranquil and full of charm. We crossed over stunning aqueducts and passed the Lower Bittell Reservoir, a serene body of water built in the early 19th century (circa 1810) to feed the canal system. It provided a beautiful view as we glided by, waving to fellow boaters and enjoying photo opportunities along the way. On this route we encountered a drawbridge which we tackled successfully, allowing our boat and crew to sail under professionally. The spectacular views made for a serene journey, allowing us to truly appreciate the peacefulness of the canal. Everyone got the chance to take a turn at steering.
