Warners, Fun & Dancing (Gunton Hall)

Surrounded by woodland, the Warner Leisure resort provided a warm welcome and the group settled into their cosy woodland chalets. After unpacking and enjoying the essential first cup of tea, everyone gathered for a delicious three-course dinner before heading to the lively Lakeview Pavilion for the evening entertainment. The resident band Blue Ventura quickly filled the dance floor, with John and Jill leading the way, before West End performer Rebecca Lisewski delivered a fantastic show featuring songs from musicals including Starlight Express, Mamma Mia and Les Misérables.

Energised for the day ahead, the group headed to the outdoor activity area to try archery. For Muriel it was a brand-new experience, but she soon found her aim and achieved an excellent score. When the weather turned cooler, everyone moved indoors to warm up with drinks and friendly games, including Connect 4, Snakes and Ladders and dominoes, where some playful competition emerged. The fun continued later in the sports hall with games of pool, snooker and darts before the group prepared for another evening out. After dinner they returned to the Lakeview Pavilion for Phil Collins Connected, a high-energy tribute to the music of Phil Collins and Genesis. The powerful performances and drum solos had the audience clapping, singing and dancing along, bringing another wonderful day to a close.

On Sunday, bright weather inspired a seaside outing to Great Yarmouth. The group began their visit at SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth, exploring colourful marine displays. Muriel enjoyed spotting the clownfish, while Duncan was fascinated by the rainforest section with piranhas and even an alligator. The highlight was the enormous ocean tank, where they learned about the green sea turtle and watched graceful stingrays and blacktip reef sharks swimming overhead as they walked through the glass tunnel. Afterwards the group enjoyed a stroll along the beach and promenade before heading to Wellington Pier for lunch and a lively game of ten-pin bowling. After an exciting contest, John took first place with Jill finishing a close second. A little seaside shopping followed before returning to Gunton Hall for a relaxing evening.
