Canal Boat Leisure Trips
We couldn't have asked for better weather for our 3 days spent on the beautiful canals. After an induction we soon climbed aboard, moored off, and began our adventure. The
journey was tranquil and full of charm. We crossed over stunning aqueducts and
passed the Lower Bittell Reservoir, a serene body of water built in the early
19th century (circa 1810) to feed the canal system. It provided a beautiful
view as we glided by, waving to fellow boaters and enjoying photo opportunities
along the way.
Everyone got the chance to
take a turn at steering. Anna was first up, smiling proudly as she kept the
boat neatly centred on the canal. Then came Niamh, who showed great control and
assurance, followed by Hugh, who took a calm and steady approach as we
navigated bridges, bends, and moored boats. Michael had his go too — great job,
Michael!
Today’s
adventure: the iconic Cadbury Chocolate Factory. As we approached, it
truly felt like stepping into a scene from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We
wandered through displays of old-fashioned cocoa adverts, peeked at the
chocolate-making process, and saw how some of our favourite sweet snacks like
Dairy Milk, Buttons, and Crunchie are made
The
highlight for many of us was the 4D Chocolate Adventure, an immersive cinema
experience where we ‘flew’ through a chocolatey landscape alongside Freddo and
friends. We all the got the chance to taste the freshly made warm liquid chocolate- heaven!
