Music, Dance & Arts Festival - Latitude with Oli & Lorraine

Music, Dance & Arts Festival - Latitude

All kitted out in our festival t-shirts, headbands, glitter make up and we were ready to party! With smiles on our faces and a spring in our step we walked past the iconic Latitude sign and the pink sheep! No, we weren’t imagining things! Already, there was an amazing atmosphere as we walked with the bustling crowds, taking it all in.

Our first stop was at the Lake Stage, to watch the ballet. The performance was so beautiful and graceful, a perfect fit for our tranquil surroundings. We picked up the pace as we made our way over to the dance and chill out tepee where there was a really cool vibe. We let our bodies do the moving as the music flowed. It was great dancing with the other festival lovers. It was then to the comedy arena where we laughed our socks off to a set from Rosie Jones, who we recognised from TV.

Getting into the ‘hippy’ spirit some of us then decided to get a henna tattoo and we were thrilled with the end result. We also bought some great festival wear too!

There were plenty of food stalls to keep us full, giving us lots of energy to dance our socks off!

It was then time to take our seats in the VIP area for the headline act, Lewis Capaldi. The arena was packed and we all cheered and clapped as he took to the stage singing hits such as Someone You Loved, Bruises and Before You Go. We didn’t sit still for long as we joined in with the crowds waving our hands in the air to his incredible voice. What a brilliant first day it had been

Day 2 and our first stop was the trailer park. It was full of weird and wonderfully decorated American style trailers with junk sculptures everywhere. It was lovely to see so many families enjoying their time together and everyone was so friendly. We wandered around the grounds, deciding where we were heading next.

Example was headlining this afternoon on the main stage, so we made our way there in preparation for his performance.

He was a total showman and engaged with the audience really well. His band were superb, and it wasn’t long before we were all up on our feet dancing away to his well-known hits. The atmosphere was electric.

It was a unanimous vote for Groove Armada and we were not disappointed. The electronic dance music had us showing off all our best dance moves….some even went old school with a little bit of  ‘big fish, little fish, cardboard box’! It was wonderful to see everyone grooving away to the fantastic music. The view to the stage was just a sea of people, having the time of their lives. It had the most incredible vibe and we were loving every minute.

Our last day at Latitude and no sooner had we arrived and the girls were straight in the queue for another henna tattoo and the boys went back to the trailer park to watch a band on the BBC Sounds stage. We then sat and listened to a mellow set from English singer song writer and mutli- instrumentalist Freya Ridings. Her voice was mesmerising! Mark Owen was next to hit the stage and he had a huge following.
The finale for tonight was the 90’s Welsh rock band the Manic Street Preachers alongside Snow Patrol. We all got our air guitars out and rocked the night away to their hit songs. The whole arena sang along and danced the night away. We all felt really emotional, sharing this incredible experience with one another. As the night drew to an end we made our way back to the mini bus just as it started to rain…….well we were at an English festival after all! The last few days really had been an experience of a lifetime

A day was spent beside the seaside, breathing in the fresh sea air. There was an 18-hole putting green, and it seemed a shame to not have a game….. a very competitive game indeed! We all had great, fun in the sun!

We love celebrating a birthday on one of holidays and we spoilt James with gifts and of course a delicious chocolate cake.

It was a unanimous vote to play a few games of bowling, so we did just that! We split into two teams, and it was game on! After some great strikes and high scores, we had our winners! Well done to everyone for being great sports. Then, we tried our luck on the arcade machines winning lots of tickets which we later exchanged for prizes!

It was down to the water’s edge for our boat trip on the Waverley Princess. Our captain welcomed us aboard and we sailed along the calm water to the village of Burgh St Peter. Along the way we spotted swans, herons and a kestrel that flew above our boat. The riverbanks were full of lovely, wild flowers in full bloom.
