France; Coast & Country with John & Lorraine

 France - Coast & Country

We jumped on a steam train from Le Crotoy to St Valery. The train followed the coast (Baie de Somme). The group enjoyed waving to other steam trains passing by. A beautiful ride with cows, sheep and horses grazing by the sea inlets.

We visited Château D'Hardelot which is decorated throughout with furniture from the Victorian era.
It was so peaceful walking around the grounds, admiring the artefacts and the flower gardens.

A sunny day  at Hardelot Plage beach, the afternoon was spent playing games and paddling in the sea!

We arrived at the largest fishing and processing port in Europe. The Nausica Centre was a state of the art building with everything you could think of, all to do with sea life and ecology. It was fascinating seeing sharks, jelly fish and sea lions from all over the world!

Everyone was very excited for our visit to Chocolaterie de Beussent, a chocolate factory.  We saw how the chocolate is made and luckily, we were given a sample to try...delicious!

The Rock concert which was held in the garden of a creperie. It was a great hit for some of the group!

We arrived at Etaples the busy street market. Everyone enjoyed shopping for souvenirs, amongst all the food stalls.

In Nielles-lès-Blèquin, we went on the Rando Rail for 9 km. A pedal-powered cart that runs along a wooded, disused railway. It was great fun, everyone taking it in turns to pedal!
