Mediterranean Cruise Adventure with Midi, Isobel & Netty

Mediterranean Cruise Adventure
There was a cheer of elation when we first caught a glimpse of our impressive cruise liner, our home for the week, the Marella Dream. For some it felt like a dream come true as they'd never been on a cruise before and had always wanted to.

We explored the ship and soon felt at home. The views from the top deck of the never ending crystal blue sea were incredible.

Docked in the port city of Tarragona it was time to explore this beautiful Spanish coastal city which had an authentic feel about it. Our favourite view point was from where the locals called 'the Mediterranean balcony', a high point that overlooked the Roman amphitheatre with the beautiful Mediterranean sea sparkling in the distance. We found a little locomotive town train that took us on an hours journey around the city, visiting it's most attractive landmarks, navigating through its cobbled town streets.

We felt so lucky to be able to watch the sun setting from the top deck. It was a special time of the day that we would always remember.

Every evening we were treated to the most delicious 3 course meal in the dining room.

Our time in Italy was amazing. We met our tour guide for our 'Easy Pisa' excursion. As we arrived in Pisa, we swapped our bus for a miniature locomotive train that took us through the town and outside the main square. Here, we got off and had time to ourselves to explore the famous leaning tower of Pisa, the Cathedral and all the quaint shops and artisan cafes in the piazza.

We made full use of the swimming pool and jacuzzi on board. Many an afternoon was spent lazing around, topping up our tans.

We had organised a private tour of the bridge with Captain Steve. Everybody was excited and a little nervous at the same time to meet the 'main guy'. We prepared some questions beforehand and joined him and his crew up in the bridge. Throughout the tour, we learned a little about the important and difficult job all the staff on the bridge have to navigate the Marella through the seas of the world. We enjoyed sitting in the captain’s chair and putting on his trademark hat for a cheeky photo.

He was all too happy to stop and have a picture with us.

Exploring the stunning island of Corsica with views of the mountainous, lush green land was another great day out. We made our way to a beautiful nearby beach with crystal clear turquoise water and a cute pebble beach for a paddle.

We celebrated Emma's birthday with help of the restaurant waiters singing ‘Happy Birthday’ and presenting her with a delicious cake that everyone enjoyed! She loved her present from the team and was keen to show off her new sparkly purse to the other guests.

Every evening we took our front row seats in the entertainment lounge. The crew were fantastic with their great routines and sparkly costumes. One of our favourites nights was Terry Cota, the comedian who took to the stage for a very funny stand-up comedy performance. We were in stitches throughout!

Who doesn't love an ice cream when you're on holiday!

Throughout the week we took part in lots of the activities on board including a quiz and learning some great dance routines with the entertainment team. We were all presented with a certificate for our efforts in the games.
