Portugal Coastline with Jamie, Lisa & Rachel
It was off to Zoomarine in Albufeira. Upon arrival, we picked up a map, got our bearings, and headed straight
to our first show of the day—“Wings of the World.” The impressive display
featured a variety of birds, from owls to parrots and birds of prey, flying
across the arena to gasps and applause from the crowd. Excitedly we took our seats, ready to watch the infamous Dolphin display. We watched in awe as these incredible animals leap, spin, and interact with their trainers was a
real highlight. It was both entertaining and moving to see how well cared-for
and intelligent they were.

Next, came a special experience: our group was taken to a private area to meet the dolphins. After a short safety briefing, we split into two smaller groups and were introduced to Mickey and Lotus. Everyone got a chance to interact, give signals, and pose for photos as the dolphins performed tricks and flips—an unforgettable experience.

Back on dry land we explored the local town which was charming, with cobbled streets, market stalls, and local produce on display. Some of us picked up a few souvenirs, and before we left, we all enjoyed an ice cream under the afternoon sun.
We
explored the historic Fort of Santa Catarina and admired the coastal views before some browsing in local shops
It was off to Praia da Rocha beach, where we each claimed a sunbed with an umbrella, and the morning passed with a mix of sunbathing, swimming, and gentle wandering. Kevin paddled at the water’s edge, while Linda and Rachel took a stroll along the shoreline collecting shells. The sea breeze was refreshing, and the soft sand underfoot made it feel like a true summer holiday.
In Ferragudo, we found a lively square with cafés and a street musician who brought joy to the crowd. Lisa led the dancing, joined by locals and tourists alike—it was a magical moment. A climb to the church at the top of the hill gave us stunning views, even though the church itself was closed.
