Lake District Activity Centre with Darren & Marguerite

 Lake District Activity Centre

It was straight into our week of activities starting with the indoor climbing wall. We all managed to scale the heights and made it to the top. Our next challenge was to abseil down....not a problem for our group.

We then whizzed down the zip wire making fun shapes in the air before flying around the hall on the high chair to our favourite songs.

With all the gear we headed up the hills to the caves where we entered darkness and marvelled at the natural wonders by torchlight.
We explored deeper into the vast cave and found the unique waterfall, crawled through passageways, keeping low with water filling our wellies! Some of us chose to explore deeper and crawled through narrower spaces.

Our creative side came out as we designed some great piece of artwork.

It was a morning of biking around the grounds of Bendrigg. There were lots of different bikes to choose from and we really had a wonderful, fun morning cycling around the tracks trying out go karts, three wheelers and mountain bikes. Ruby, David and Philip couldn’t resist racing each other through the wooded tracks, we could hear their laughter throughout the morning, a lovely sound to remember.

Teamwork makes the dreamwork as we worked together to build the tallest tower out of crates whilst balancing, trying not to fall off.

We drove to Lakeside and boarded a steamer- freedom of the lakes and took a cruise along Windermere. The lake was beautiful, surrounded by mountain peaks and villages and is the largest natural lake in both the Lake District and England. We journeyed towards Ambleside taking in the picturesque views and enjoying the photo opportunities. The water was so calm and relaxing.

More fun was had as we took to the water on our double canoe. All of us had canoed before so paddling was very easy. It was so peaceful and calm. Lots of ducks, geese and swans passed us by as did a few swimmers. We paddled along a picturesque part of the lake, passing large, expensive houses nestled on the lakes bank.

Our last evening was spent with Rex in a yurt singing funny songs whilst he played his guitar, laughing and roasting marshmallows on the fire. It was certificate presentation night where each of us received a certificate acknowledging our weeks achievements whilst adding kind words about each other.
