Christmas Pantomime with Netty & Midi

 Christmas Pantomime

It wouldn't be Christmas without a Pantomime. The excitement grew as we made our way to The Cambridge Arts Theatre where we took our seats to watch the pantomime ‘Aladdin’. We all joined in the fun as the story unfolded on stage and hugely enjoyed the performance. Oh, yes we did!!!! We joined in with the booing and hissing as the evil Jafar tried to steal the lamp and stop Aladdin and Princess Jasmine from having their happy ever after…..which in true panto style, they did!

The weather was crisp and bright, so we headed to the River Cam where we hired a punt with our guide Andy, whom we had on our tour the previous week; a pleasant coincidence! All of us enjoyed the peaceful waterside tour of Cambridge from the unique view of the riverside.

The prestigious Cambridge colleges were pointed out by Andy, and they looked so very beautiful in the winter sunshine.

An afternoon was spent touring the city of Cambridge on foot. We visited Kings College and the street market which was suitably Christmassy and festive.

We headed to Parker's Piece where a Christmas funfair awaited us! And, oh what fun we had! A highlight was riding the huge Ferris Wheel giving us amazing views across Cambridge. After that we had bumper of a time swerving, laughing and crashing into each other on the dodgems.

Oh what fun! We took control of the microphone for a brilliant karaoke session where everyone sang their hearts to their favourite songs and we all danced along.

We love celebrating a birthday on one of our holidays. So, not forgetting the birthday boy, we surprised David with a delicious chocolate cake and sang him Happy Birthday as he blew out his candles and made a wish. He was delighted with his card and little gift.

It was game on as we hit the bowling alley. Lots of fun was had and there were plenty of strikes and huge scores. We crowned Abigail our overall champion and awarded her with a winner’s medal, which she was delighted about.

A trip to Cambridge wouldn’t be complete without visiting the famous garden centre, Scotsdales where we admired all the beautiful Christmas decorations and displays.

A fascinating morning was spent at The Museum of Zoology. Here we were treated to an amazing, guided tour of the exhibits by volunteer Sheena who was a mine of information and could answer any question we threw at her. We learnt so very many interesting facts about the animal kingdom.

With smiles on our faces, we hopped over to the leisure complex nearby where we enjoyed a drink, a few games of pool, table hockey and spent some of our holiday pennies on the arcade games. Out of all the great players, Gill was a standout pool player!
