Attractions of Blackpool with John & Isobel

Attractions of Blackpool
We blew away the cobwebs in the fresh sea air with a walk along Blackpool seafront.

On our way we met Dolly, Tilly and Bobby, the donkeys on
the beach who were enjoying a well- earned rest. We loved
stroking and making a fuss of them.

There it was, right in front of us was the iconic  Blackpool Tower. We enjoyed the 4D cinema experience; a fantastic film about the history of Blackpool and all its famous attractions. Excitedly, we then made our way up to the glass platform, with the brave amongst us walking on it. We looked down from over 400 feet above the ground. Everything looked so small and the views across the sea and the town of Blackpool were amazing.

We took our seats ready for the circus to begin. We were wowed by an amazing Bollywood style performance of trapeze, knife throwing, juggling and death defying stunts! Mookie the Clown had us laughing out loud at his silly pranks and funny jokes. We couldn’t believe it as the arena started filling with water and acrobatics were being performed off elephants as they moved around the ring.

A fantastic day was spent at Madame Tussauds museum where we rubbed shoulders with our favourite pop stars and famous celebrities. We loved getting up close and personal with the x factor and strictly judges and even got to give it a go ourselves!

We ventured into TARDIS with the thirteenth Doctor.

The cheeky duo Ant and Dec were so life like and we bravely took part in the bush-tucker trials!

We met some sporting legends along with some musical icons, too.

Last but not least we were on our best behaviour for the Queen.

Great fun was had with the seaside paraphernalia!

We made our way to the Tower Ballroom, where they film the popular tv show Strictly Come Dancing. As we sat and enjoyed a drink, we were treated to beautiful dancers gliding their way around the dance floor to the sound of the world-famous organists. This fabulous Ballroom looked all too inviting and we were soon up on our feet showing off our own wonderful dance moves. We sat and took in this amazing building whilst eating lunch. It was something that we would remember forever.

Wrapping up warm we headed out to a Firework Party at the local cricket club. They lit the huge bonfire and we took to our seats for the spectacular firework display. The night sky was lit up with an array of colour and sparkles.

We had a couple of great games at the bowling alley. There were some fantastic scores and a few excellent strikes. Hywel was crowned champion for winning the first game with a fabulous score of 97 and Michael was victorious in the second game with an amazing score of 147!

The Sea Life Centre is always a favourite amongst our holiday makers. It was a great experience for us as we got to touch the star fish and crabs in the rock pool area. We watched the huge Ray fish swimming around their tank, and we got a great view of them as they swam right up to the glass. Next, was the Rain-forest section where we saw unusual sea creatures like piranha fish and even poisonous frogs. Our favourite part of the trip was walking through the Ocean Tunnel as the huge sharks swam above us; we felt like we were under the sea.

We took a slow drive down the main strip to see the famous Blackpool illuminations. Luckily for us we managed to catch sight of the illuminated train that had been decorated with the most colourful display of lights in the shape of a boat.
