London Theatre & Sightseeing with Myra & Steve

After settling in to our London hotel and unpacking we headed for our first adventure – a ride on the Emirates cable car! This took us over the Thames with fantastic views, across to the 02 Arena. In the evening we had a meal at Frankie and Benny’s and Claire had the most enormous Knickerbocker Glory!

We began each day with a hearty breakfast: tea, coffee, cereal, yogurts, fruit, full English, toast was all on offer before we got out of the door. Well we needed the energy for all the sightseeing!!

We visited Buckingham Palace via a lovely walk through Green Park. We saw the changing of the guard which was fantastic. We ate lunch in Leicester Square, where Claire insisted on having pictures taken with a group of policemen! We saw the Christmas tree that had just been put up that morning in Trafalgar Square. Walking over Jubilee Bridge we had great views of Parliament, the Thames and London itself! We saw statues (or were they? as they kept moving and jumping out on us!), the ice rink and the Christmas stalls all around the London Eye. We could smell the hot chestnuts that were being roasted and enjoyed the evening of Christmas festive cheer!!

We made our way along Bond, Oxford and Regent Street to Hamleys where we were greeted by dancing elves!! And a rather large bear!! There was so much to see; flying saucers, magic tricks, and Ian especially liked the miniature train tracks!! We visited Carnaby Street were we had lunch. We went on a tour bus to take in the sights and the Christmas lights around London. Covent Garden was also on the agenda where street entertainers kept us entertained! Juggling, dancing, singing, there was so much to take in. All this was followed up by an evening snack then onto to seeing the production of ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’ - the show was a great success with lots of laughter (Claire especially) and singing (Tracey!!!) On our last day we had an early start so that we could catch the boat trip which took us on a tour of the Thames, and we explored Tower Bridge and the outside of the Tower of London.
