 Farm Experience & Colchester Zoo

We always love visiting the local farm and it was clear that the animals were equally as happy to see us too! We made such a fuss of them all.  

It was a real hands on experience and we were really lucky to be able to groom the little Shetland pony and walk her out to her field. 

A highlight was being able to feed the new born lamb from the bottle. What an amazing experience. 


We were excited for our day at the infamous Colchester Zoo especially as we had a session booked feeding the giraffes. Vera, Isha, Lily, and Nzuri enchanted us with their towering presence and long, black tongues. It really was such a special moment. 

We visited Caroline the crocodile, basking lazily and her keeper described her diet of fish, rats, and mice. We saw chimpanzees and chuckled at the expressive Golden Lion Tamarins. Seeing Barbara the macaque and the awe-inspiring African lion was fantastic. In the Australian Rainbows tunnel, lorikeets flew above us. We marvelled at elephants, giraffes, and colourful emperor angelfish.

At Colchester Castle, we learned it was built by William the Conqueror atop a Roman temple—900 years of history beneath our feet! We enjoyed a stroll through Lower Castle Park, with fragrant blossom trees and a swan family gliding along the river.

We spent the morning at the charming Tiptree Jam Museum, where we discovered Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite jam— “Little Scarlet” strawberry! We browsed photos of famous visitors, including Vicki Michelle (and actress) and King Charles. 

The sun was shining as we headed to the petting zoo, where we spotted marmosets with a new born just days old! Zookeeper James introduced us to reptiles and a chicken trio named Charles, Camilla, and Diana. We met Pete the bearded dragon, Beauty the python, and Tiny the tortoise—who may live to 120! 


It was game on down at the bowling alley and with high scores and a few strikes it was a close game.  

How lucky were we to have our own hot tub to relax in after our busy days!

    Cyprus Sun     Our hotel was fantastic! We all loved relaxing around the swimming pool or down the beach which was only a few meters away. In the evening we all enjoyed dinner on the terrace with stunning views. We went on the original open top red bus tour to the Turkish side of the island. We had a tour guide giving us a commentary on board about the sights we saw and the history leading up to the Turkish invasion in 1974. We toured the walled city of Famagusta and saw the ghost town left unoccupied since the war.  We spent our evening in town exploring the buzzing streets and listened to live music in fantastic bars. The Wonders of the Isle of Wight with Phil & Lesley

  The Wonders of the Isle of Wight   The first stop was Alum Bay where we marvelled at the view across the Needles.  We then visited the sand shop where everyone made their own sand souvenirs, followed by a visit to the glass factory where we were shown how to make beautiful glassware. We visited the very pretty little village of Godshill where we went to the amazing model village. The miniature world fascinated us all as we wandered leisurely around.  At the local bowling alley we had a few great competitive game with one of the team members scoring a whopping 134! Our evenings were filled with a range of fantastic shows which ranged from live bands, tribute act from Neil Diamond and Rob Stewart!  This was the perfect opportunity for us to show off our brilliant dance moves! Attractions of Blackpool with Matt & Jackie

 Attractions of Blackpool  Oh we do love to be besides the seaside and we couldn't wait to head up the infamous Blackpool Tower. The views along the coastline were spectacular.  We managed to step onto the famous Ballroom floor and watched some of the dancers glide gracefully around the room.  It was time to get up close and personal with all of our favourite celebs at Madame Tussauds. We couldn't believe how much they lifelike they were! There were Coronation Street legends and some pretty iconic pop stars for us meet. Next up was some of our sporting heroes. We couldn't resist a picture with Boris and of course King Charles. Our next stop was the Blackpool Dungeons! From the moment we entered we were greeted by the "Black Jester” and we could tell this place was not for the faint hearted. The characters and scenarios played out by the excellent actors were a reflection of Britain's brutal and often savage history.
