Blackpool with Derek, Pat, Steve & Mel

We stayed in one of our favourite holiday villages close to Blackpool and enjoyed the fantastic facilities which included restaurants, bars, amusement arcade, pool room & a dance floor which was where we were found until late at night. Our accommodation was splendid.

Naturally we saw the famous illuminations, not once, but twice! They were, perhaps, the best we have seen so far. We visited the tower ballroom and some of us found out that we had such talent that we are considering auditioning for “Strictly”.

The circus was one of the highlights along with visits to Madame Tussauds, and the Sea Life centre. On a wet day we went and had a game of 10-pin bowling. Charlie scored the highest points of the day with a massive 109. Well done!

We also went to Lytham and went on the pier where we played on the penny machines. We had nice dinners out at local restaurants and pubs. Our thanks go to all, as we had so much fun and enjoyed working within a very friendly group!

Norfolk Broads with Adrian & Jen

We had a great time on the Broads, enjoying the lovely weather. With a hearty home-cooked breakfast each morning and pub lunches and dinners we ate well all week. We were even treated to a BBQ on our last day before we left.

We ventured out on the water on various craft. First we tested our paddling skills as we went out on the broads in our stabilised canoes. We also tried our hand at sailing. We each took turns at the rudder, steering the boat in the right direction. We all got a chance to pull the sail ropes and managed to pick up quite a bit of speed across the Broad.

One day we took a steam train ride from Holt to Sheringham. We always enjoy the thrill of a ride on the steam trains with the lovely sounds of the whistle and the smoke billowing from the funnel. We visited the coast, and some even ventured onto the shore.

Feeling lucky, one evening we went to the greyhound races at Great Yarmouth. We all had a bet and loudly cheered on our chosen dogs. Most of us won on at least one race!

On the Broads again we got the binoculars out to get some close up views of swans, mallard, geese, great crested grebe and coots. Everyone had a go at steering the cruiser, trying to avoid the swans on the water! We even stopped off to do some fishing.

We had all had a fantastic week, with new experiences for many of us.

Portugal Coastline with Derek & Wendy

We all had a wonderful time in the glorious sun with temperatures in the low 30’s. Our hotel was within just a few minutes’ walk of the beach. Several days were spent relaxing on sun-beds under umbrellas to help shade us from the rays! We enjoyed playing in the sea and loved the fun of jumping the waves. We also played Frisbee on the hot sands. Lunches were spent in the nice beach bar close by. When not on the beach we swam in our hotel swimming pool.

We took a trip by land-train to Albufeira town for some shopping therapy and to have a nice lunch. There were some nice bars and restaurants and we stopped off for an ice cream and a drink as we sauntered along!

Another day trip was to the Zoo Marine. It was great and we saw two shows, one being a sea lion show and the other a show with dolphins. We also went to the 4D cinema, which was quite amazing!

On many of our evenings we enjoyed the shows at our hotel. There were fire shows and parrot shows and also a karaoke spot which Ruth excelled at!

It was Wendy’s birthday on one of our days and we had a really nice night out in a superb restaurant and we sang “happy birthday” as she blew out her candle.

The weather was just right for our relaxing holiday.
