Winter Sun in the Canaries - Lanzarote with Oli, Debbie & Naomi
Winter Sun in the Canaries - Lanzarote
Our hotel was in the perfect position with plenty of shops, bars and local markets for us to explore. Everybody managed to buy gifts and souvenirs and as a reward for our hard work we treated ourselves to a delicious ice cream.

It was
an early start eager for an excursion that promised to showcase
Lanzarote’s natural wonders. Our first stop was El Golfo’s Green Lagoon, a
striking site where vibrant green waters shimmered against a backdrop of black
volcanic sand and deep blue seas. Next, we ventured to Timanfaya National Park,
a mesmerizing volcanic terrain shaped by eruptions centuries ago. The heat was
almost unbearable as we learned that the earth beneath us was hot enough to
cook meat! A guide demonstrated the island’s geothermal activity, even showing
us how dry brush ignited instantly from the heat below the surface. We were all
stunned by the raw power of nature. Then,
Tom and Debbie took the plunge and went for a camel ride, exploring the
volcanic landscape from a completely new perspective. They both absolutely
loved it!Today
was all about the animals! We were off to Rancho Texas, home to dolphins, sea
lions, and birds of prey. The dolphin show was spectacular, with the graceful
creatures performing stunning tricks. We continued our
animal adventure with a visit to the penguin enclosure and the birds of prey
show, where we watched massive vultures soar over our heads, creating a truly
magical atmosphere. After a fun-filled day at the animal park, we cooled off at
the nearby water park, where the brave souls splashed down the slides while the
rest of us relaxed in the sun.
Down the road was Betty
Boop’s Show Bar and our group of party animals took to the microphone belting out classic karaoke songs. But the night truly belonged to Wayne, whose energetic performance of “I Am the
Music Man” had the entire bar dancing and singing along. It was, without a
doubt, one of the best nights of the holiday!
